A Drug Plan That May Help Those With Medicare
Back to articles...
For many people on Medicare, the future doesn't look very bright. The large amount of federal money which was supposed to be spent on medicare has vanished, and more money is being spent on the military buget. The promises made by government officials to provide senior citizens with low cost medication appears to no longer be a priority. One of the most common problems discussed by politicians regarding medication is how it should be divided among those who qualify for Medicare.
Some feel that the benefit should be based on income, while others feel that it should be evenly divided among everyone who has Medicare. The high cost of medication not only effects those on Medicare, but the population as a whole. The cost of health insurance has greatly increased, and the rising cost of medication is a primary reason for this. Many researchers have suggested that it may be time for a new drug plan. They propose a copayment plan which is based on benefits. With this plan, those who need the medicine the most will get it while paying a much smaller price.
Many people who have a severe disease are paying the same price as others with much less serious conditions. The name of the plan is Benefit Based Copay. With this plan, people will pay lower prices, and those who need the medications the most may even be compensated for taking the medication. The money that will be saved by the healthcare industry would be seen as the cost of the drug versus the cost involved with treating a patient who has a debilitating disease. If somone has arthritis, the cost of the drug can be compared with the cost involved with caring for the patient once the disease becomes severe. |
