How to Keep Your Medications Organized
Back to articles...
If you are like many people, you may take a large number of different medications each day. Each of these drugs may need to be taken at a different times, and they may come in different forms. Becausing of this, making sure you take your medications at the right time can be a stressful process. The goal of using medications should be to treat your health, and being organized with your medicine can help you avoid stress.
The first thing you will have to deal with is remembering the different names of your medication. Some of these will be generic, while others will be well known brands. If you don't have a good memory, it is easy to forget these drugs or get them mixed up. One way to solve this problem is to have your doctor write down the names of the drugs in a way which is easy to spell. This will make them easier to remember when you visit the pharmacy. If you are using medications which require you to take them at different times, you will need to remember them. If you have five drugs to take, trying to read the name and description on each bottle to make sure you're following directions can be stressful.
One way to solve this problem is to design a chart which tells you what each medication is for, how many doses should be taken, and when you should take it. For example, some medications must be taken after you've had a meal, while others need to be taken on an empty stomach. Another problem which many people have is bottles which are difficult to open. This can be very frustrating if you suffer from a disease such as arthritis. You can solve this problem by purchasing bottles which have dividers for each time of the day. |
